Persimmons are tomato-shaped fruit with brightly coloured skin and a green leaf top. Both Fuyu and Sharon Fruit persimmons are sweet while Hachiyas can be more astringent if not fully ripe. Persimmons can be eaten fresh as a snack, sliced and added to salads, or used to make baked goods and jam.
